Nonprofit organizations are switching to Microsoft Dynamics CRM every day. There are many reasons for this but the one we are going focus on right now is the massive availability of templates in this industry. Partners and officials within the main company have many versions of these to give people so that they can get started with their work immediately after installation. There are so many that you can easily find one for your own organization if this is the path you choose.
You probably already know what a template is but what is MSD template? Basically it is a collection of customizations and rules that can easily be set up within a few moments after downloading them. It pre-sets many factors in the program to work with a specific type of organization or set of accounting rules. These can really save you tons of time and effort although you may have to pay for one here and there.
Accounting software for non profit organizations is not too difficult to set up within the Microsoft Dynamics CRM framework. Much of the work has already been done for you. You can find many resources online with the aid of sites and support that have the templates you need. Or you can set everything up in a specific manner just for your company. Either one should work quite well for you.
Unfortunately there are two problems with the fact that so many of these are available. One is that a few of them just are not that great. They do not have everything set up for what you will need nor will the company ever provide you with one. Economy solutions often have this problem so be careful with those. Another is that you may have a hard time finding the perfect one for whatever you do. Basically you are adrift in a sea of information and will have to take some time in order to narrow it down.
For many nonprofit Microsoft Dynamics users you will be able to go with a general solution which can save you money. However if you do have extremely specific needs you may want to pay a contractor to design one with important customizations for your specific situation. Fortunately this often does not cost you a huge amount of money and you can use it for a long time as each update goes through.
So what is the downside to using a template? There really isn’t one as long as it is being used in-company. The public does not have to see that you are using the same one as 100 other different organizations and as such you can pretty much do whatever you want in this area. The only risk lies in your people getting lazy and becoming unable to properly do their work without a template so you may want to consider that if you do not trust everyone involved with your work as well. Only you understand the best way to handle this software at your company.
