Many people have been waiting for it. Perhaps the only drawback to this system is the fact that revisions take a while. However Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Revision 2 is out with a huge set of new features. We’ll discuss a few of them for you although listing them all is a topic for a book, not an article. We’ll also explain what this means for those shopping around and those who already have a version of this system. It’s a big change whenever one of these drops so we should all take notice.
The release itself has a UI overhaul that makes it look a bit better but is not a huge change from previous versions. So don’t be drawn in just by how it looks and actually look at the core product itself. This is a good rule of thumb no matter what you are buying. It doesn’t hurt that it looks quite a bit better though you should realize you are paying for that better look.
It also has a lot of new functions. Donor management software is just one of the areas in which it has improved. The executive dashboard is also a feature many people are excited about. This new setting allows your top people to have unparalleled access to information and control over what is done with it. Considering it is the executives who make a lot decisions when buying things like this it’s clear that is a huge selling point. Microsoft Dynamics GP just keeps getting better.
Previously the integration with Office 365 was limited. You could put some apps in to add on to it but that might be more trouble than it was worth. Now it’s just a core part of the system and you can access it from a huge variety of windows. This means that functionality which you would previously have to add on is now just simply inside the program from the start. That can save you a lot of money and effort since your lower-level workers can add information quickly and easily.
Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Rev 2 now also has Azure integration. This means you can have a cloud which is faster and more secure than any you could provide for yourself. There had already been some ways to do this but now you don’t have to pay anything extra for it. That’s a huge bonus for many of us who don’t want to pay that extra.
Those who already have the system will pay for the upgrade at a reduced rate unless you are on one of the plans that has it included. While it is bothersome to pay again it’s something most of us knew we would have to do when we were going into it. It’s also worth it for the additional functions.
They also streamlined email functions and are going to be releasing Microsoft Dynamics GP Companion Apps as well. This should really shake things up and add more functions than ever.
